Today’s Mineral Monday is all about Sodium! Sodium often gets a bad reputation, but it’s one of the most important minerals for supporting your body’s natural rhythm, from maintaining energy to helping you adapt to stress.

On a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA), sodium tells us how your adrenals are functioning, those tiny glands that play a big role in energy, hydration, and how your body handles life’s daily stressors.

• 2 cups of @califiafarms almond milk, unsweetened
• 3 tablespoons of cashew butter, or measure with your heart!
• handful of @hukitchen chocolate gems
• 2 scoops of @just.ingredients snickerdoodle protein powder
• dash of ceylon cinnamon
• 1 ripe banana

all you need to do is add the ingredients to a bowl and then mix until thoroughly combined. serve as is, or paired with your favorite berries. enjoy 😋!

Dear NHHN Community,

Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well. There have been two major life updates that I feel called to share with you. I have always taken the approach of privacy with my personal life within my practice however, this feels too big not to shed light on. My hope at Nourish has always been to create a space we all feel comfortable being vulnerable in and now I must share with you something that my family and I have been walking with over the last 6 years. I thank you for providing me the same comfort, as I share this with you.

Six years ago my father began dialysis treatment and has been awaiting a kidney transplant and a heart transplant.

Ten days ago, he was placed on life support. We have been eagerly awaiting double organ donations for him. I don’t know what is next but I know this is heartbreaking.

In the midst of this, we welcomed our daughter, Emilia Grace, six days ago. She was born 17 days early and is healthy and so loved by her two older siblings. We named her Emilia with an “E” as opposed to an “A” after my father, Eric. I have never experienced such pure joy and such immense sadness at the same time.

With these life events, my maternity leave at Nourish came on abruptly and 10 days earlier than expected. I never thought I’d have Emilia as early as I did, nor did I ever think my father would be so critically fighting for his life.

In the following slides, you’ll see what supports are in place to provide you continued care at NHHN.

I want to thank you for the kindness, grace and compassion you have shown our team in my sudden absence. Paige and Stephanie are excellent practitioners and I have the utmost confidence in each of them to take the reins both professionally and administratively, during my leave.

Your trust in me and my practice, your support and
friendship mean so much to me. I will tackle this with tenacity, faith, compassion and nourishment as I hope each of us show ourselves whenever life throws us unwavering uncertainties.

each month we’ll be doing a deep dive into a different mineral, highlighting its role in the body and why it is so important for our health. minerals can often get overlooked because they might seem “basic,” but in reality they are truly a foundational part of optimal health and wellbeing. we like to think of minerals like our body’s spark plugs that help make other bodily processes function at their best!

the first mineral we’ll be highlighting is magnesium, which is important for feeling balanced, energized & calm.

magnesium deficiency has become extremely common due to:
• high stress, which can deplete our mineral stores long-term
• poor soil quality, with less and less magnesium (as well as other minerals) available for our bodies to absorb
• caffeine consumption (we know, sorry!!)
• processed foods consumption, which have a lower overall mineral content + can require more minerals to properly digest

Try these Dark Chocolate Love Bites ❤️

Ingredients:
3 1/2 ozs Dark Chocolate (at least 70% cacao) 1/4 cup Pomegranate Seeds 1/4 cup Slivered Almonds

Instructions:

Fill one large pot with water and place a smaller pot inside. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Ensure no water is able to get in the smaller pot.

Add the dark chocolate into the smaller pot and stir continuously until melted.

Spread a large piece of wax paper across your counter. Dollop a heaping teaspoon of melted chocolate onto the wax paper so it forms a circle. Repeat until all chocolate has been used up.

Immediately place 4 or 5 pomegranate seeds in the centre of each chocolate and then surround with slivered almonds.

Let chocolate cool for 1 hour before peeling off of the wax paper. Arrange on a decorative plate or store in a mason jar.

Enjoy! 💕✨

2 lbs white fish of your choice (i used cod)
1 stick @kerrygoldusa butter
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley + more for garnish
zest and juice of 1 lemon + wedges for garnish
1 lb linguini, cooked according to package directions
Kosher salt
fresh cracked pepper

——

Season fish with salt, pepper, papyri, garlic powder and onion powder.

Add stick of butter to cast iron skillet. Let melt on medium heat. Add seasoned fish. brown on each side for 3-4 minutes.

Remove fish, add cooked pasta. add a drizzle of olive oil, lemon zest and juice and 1-2 ladles of pasta water.

add fish on top of pasta and garnish with parsley

Hi Friends,

It’s me, Kris. Owner and founder of Nourish. Thank you for being here. I know I’ve shared in the past that social media and I have never been the best of friends. All too often I personally find it draining and overwhelming. I also recognize that there is a gift in the knowledge and connectivity it possesses.
.
With that being said, when I started Nourish almost 13 years ago, it truly was my first baby. I poured all of myself into her; morning, noon and night. It was the big dream I had that needed nurturing and constant attention. Late nights, weekends, it didn’t matter; this was my goal and I gave everything to her.
.
And then I had two babies of my own. My heart felt pulled to these two beautiful souls and suddenly I found myself pouring everything into them. I’ve had to learn how to mother and nurture both; my family and my practice. And, though messy at times, finding the balance brings me great joy.
.
So I wanted to take a moment to say hello and thank you. Thank you for the love and support you’ve shown Nourish as she has grown and changed and as I have grown and changed. Thank you for entrusting me with your health and for being a part of your process of healing and repairing. In between bath time and Paw Patrol I’m reading about gene mutations and detoxing liver pathways. I’m striving to continue to merry the two and to always show up authentically on this platform. Though it waxes and wanes, I think that might just be the key to the flow of life that I need to honor.

Hi Friends,

It’s me, Kris. Owner and founder of Nourish. Thank you for being here. I know I’ve shared in the past that social media and I have never been the best of friends. All too often I personally find it draining and overwhelming. I also recognize that there is a gift in the knowledge and connectivity it possesses.
.
With that being said, when I started Nourish almost 13 years ago, it truly was my first baby. I poured all of myself into her; morning, noon and night. It was the big dream I had that needed nurturing and constant attention. Late nights, weekends, it didn’t matter; this was my goal and I gave everything to her.
.
And then I had two babies of my own. My heart felt pulled to these two beautiful souls and suddenly I found myself pouring everything into them. I’ve had to learn how to mother and nurture both; my family and my practice. And, though messy at times, finding the balance brings me great joy.
.
So I wanted to take a moment to say hello and thank you. Thank you for the love and support you’ve shown Nourish as she has grown and changed and as I have grown and changed. Thank you for entrusting me with your health and for being a part of your process of healing and repairing. In between bath time and Paw Patrol I’m reading about gene mutations and detoxing liver pathways. I’m striving to continue to merry the two and to always show up authentically on this platform. Though it waxes and wanes, I think that might just be the key to the flow of life that I need to honor.
